Apple iPhone 6 Confirmed Two Versions, iPhone 6 4.7 Release in August/September to Launch with iOS 8?

Apple will reportedly release its flagship phone in September. What previously seemed mere speculation now appears truer by the day. According to recent reports, Apple will indeed release two versions of theiPhone 6: a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch variant. The two variants are reportedly in production just in time for a fall release. Can Apple make it on time?

The gold colored version of the new iPhone 5S is seen after Apple Inc's media event in Cupertino, California September 10, 2013.
According to the company's track record, major product releases always happen around fall. Leading business daily in JapanNikkeireported about the release of theiPhone 6 around September. The report also emphasized the two screen options although no sources were cited.
The report noted Apple working together with Japanese Electronics Company, Sharp, for the supply of higher-resolution crystal display screens. Apple has also been collobarating with other companies like LG Display in South Korea and Japan display. Additionally, Taiwan's Commercial Times published a report earlier this March about Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. beginning productions for the next set of Apple chips.
All of these partnerships or collaborations suggest Apple ramping up productions for the upcoming releases of its devices including the iPhone 6. The existing iPhone 5 series came out last September 2012. The refreshed line, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, came out around the same time last year. Analysts believe that Apple will not veer away from this timeline anytime soon.
According to previous reports, the iPhone 6 will ship with a thinner body, higher pixel density screen and a better processor. Likewise, it was also reported previously that TSMC and Samsung are both contracted to produce the new "A8" chip for the smartphone. The A8 processor will follow a similar 64-bit structure clocked at 2.6GHz.
Other reported features for the iPhone 6 include an Ultra-Retina display offering 389ppi for pixel density, 8MP camera, bezel-free display and the iOS 8. According to Paste Magazine, some of the likely features of the iOS 8 include:
  • Mass Transit-Friendly Apple Maps
  • Fitness-Focused HealthBook
  • iTunes Radio As Individual App
  • Preview and Text Edit features
Apple has yet to make its official announcement of the iPhone 6.

Apple testing 'Related' App Store search results to boost app discovery

According to reports late Monday, Apple may be planning on rolling out a new app discovery feature for the iOS App Store as users have spotted a new option that suggests terms related to a given search.
Related Search

The new feature, first spotted by developer Olga Osadcha, appears while conducting a search in the App Store app. Currently, the "Related" suggestions appear to be limited to iPhones running iOS 7.1 or higher and is not showing up on the iPad or desktop versions of iTunes.

As seen in the example above, when a user enters a keyword like "password manager," the App Store recommends a number of related search terms in a row directly below the search box. Clicking on one of the suggestions open a new pane populated with apps corresponding to the selected search term. It looks as though results are commonly used phrases possibly pulled from popular keywords or phrases queried by other users.

Previously, App Store discovery was restricted to a Related subsection within an app's preview card. The section is usually filled with other apps from the same developer, popular titles within a given category and a "customers also purchased" list.

In 2012, Apple acquired app search engine Chomp. Shortly after the purchase, Apple brought Chomp-style "app cards" to iOS 6, but the company has yet to incorporate the erstwhile service's powerful recommendation and discovery features.

At the time of this writing, access to the "Related" menu bar is sporadic, suggesting Apple is testing the functionality ahead of a more formal rollout.

How to jailbreak iOS 7 using evasi0n7 [Windows tutorial]

ios 7 jailbreak
As we just told you, the evad3rs have released a new jailbreak tool called evasi0n7, and it allows you to easily jailbreak iOS 7. The good news is that the hack works with all flavors of iOS 7, which includes iOS 7.0.1, iOS 7.0.2, iOS 7.0.3 and 7.0.4 (and it looks like iOS 7.1 beta).
As usual, the evad3rs have made the utility fairly easy to use. But also as usual, we know there will be folks out there looking for a bit of help using it, so we’ve created an easy-to-follow tutorial to show you how. This is our Windows guide (our Mac guide can be found here)…

Note: Again, this jailbreak is only compatible with compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4. That means it won’t work on the Apple TV or any devices running iOS 6.x. Also, you’ll want to make sure that you backup your device using iCloud or iTunes. And for those of you who have updated via OTA, you’ll want to back it up in iTunes and do a full restore before applying evasi0n7.

Step 1: Download evasi0n7 for Windows via our downloads page.

Step 2: Extract the download onto your desktop and open the evasi0n folder. Right click on the evasi0n.exe file and select Run as administrator. If a User Access Control window pops up, choose yes.

Step 3: Make sure your device passcode is disabled, if you ever set one up. To disable your passcode lock, go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock > and choose Turn Passcode Off.

Step 4: Plug in your iDevice to your PC.

Step 5: You should see a message on the tool that it has detected your device, and the Jailbreak button should become clickable.

Step 6: To begin the jailbreak process, click that button and sit back and let the app do its thing.

Step 7: Eventually, you’ll be asked to tap the evasi0n7 icon on your device’s Home screen, which will complete the process.

Step 8: Once the jailbreak process has completed, you’ll be taken to your Lock screen. From there, you can Slide to unlock your device and where you’ll find the Cydia icon on your Home screen’s second page.
And that’s all there is to it. The entire process takes around 5 minutes, and your device will reboot a few times. If the process gets stuck at any point, it’s safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home), and rerun the process.
It’s worth restating that Saurik was caught by surprise, as we all were, with this release, so he hasn’t had the chance to test things out yet. As such, we imagine you’ll run into issues with both Cydia and your favorite tweaks, so be prepared for initial compatibility issues.
Anyway, if you have questions, concerns, or comments, then please leave your feedback in the comment section below. Please be willing to help your fellow jailbreakers as you’ve been so eager to do so in the past.

SnapChat Hacked, 4.6 Million Users Affected, Were You One Of Them?

About a week ago it was discovered that a group of hackers caught on to undocumented APIs from the popular messaging service SnapChap along with tweak security exploits that expose personal information about its users.
The group of hackers are from Australia and go by the name of Gibson Security and initially talked to ZDNet about their findings.
Today the exploits discovered by Gibson Security have allowed the individual(s) behind SnapchatDB to compile 4.6 million SnapChat records and make them publicly available for viewing on the internet.
SnapChat Hack
The file contains phone numbers, usernames and passwords of over 4.6 million Snapchat users and is available for download as an SQL dump or CSV file. Reportedly the last two digits on the phone numbers are obscured, but if you want access to the unaltered database you simply need to contact SnapchatDB and likely pay a price.
Reports have been coming in that the leaked data only contains area codes in North America. There are two Canadian area codes and only 76 of the 322 available US area codes.
The two Canadian area codes were 867 and 204 (Northwest Territories and Manitoba, respectively).
As for those residing in the US, if your phone number is in any of these states, you’re not in the database:
  • Alaska
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Kansas
  • Maryland
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire
  • New Mexico
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • West Virginia
  • Wyoming
SnapChat has indeed confirmed the exploit and has since gone on to patch it. The company downplayed the significance of the hack in a recent blog post and stated user information has been recompiled using “the recently patched Snapchat exploit.”
Those who reside in any of the areas that have been effected should change their password immediately.
